Concept Wall Light LED Aluminium

The Concept is a compact aluminium wall light built around a slim rectangular body, 180 mm wide and 100 mm high, that throws light up and out of an open aperture rather than through a lens. Because it is aluminium rather than plaster, it can be specified in black or white as a deliberate visual element instead of a piece of wall meant to vanish. Two decisions face you: the finish, and the colour temperature carried by the part number. It is rated IP20, so it is an indoor fitting — do not use it on an exposed facade or in a position that can be rained on.

The choice to make

HV8028C is cool white at 6000K and produces 130 lm; HV8028W is warm white at 3000K and produces 120 lm. Each is available in black or white, giving four part numbers: HV8028C-BLK, HV8028C-WHT, HV8028W-BLK and HV8028W-WHT. Black reads as a graphic accent against a light wall; white is quieter and disappears against plasterboard. Both draw 2 W at 240 V.

Where it works

• Hallways and passages where a run of three or four gives rhythm without a ceiling fitting.
• Internal stairs, mounted low as a wall wash to mark the flight.
• Bedhead walls in a main bedroom or guest room, in pairs.
• Media and living rooms, used along a feature wall to lift the surface without glare into the room.

Specifying it

The Concept wires straight to 240 V AC mains — no driver, no transformer. It is a Class 1 fitting requiring an earth, so a licensed electrician must connect it. The globe is a G9 capsule and it is replaceable; a G4, GU10 or MR16 globe will not fit the pins. The socket accepts a maximum of 25 W, which is a thermal limit on a small aluminium body. It is rated IK08 for impact — noticeably tougher than a plaster equivalent — and has no diffuser. It is not dimmable. Rated life is over 30,000 hours.
