Domus BF-2607A Raw Ceramic Interior Wall Light

The Domus BF-2607A is a raw ceramic uplight — 365 mm wide, 50 mm high, 100 mm projection, taking one G9 lamp. Light emits upwards only. Made in Italy.

The proportions — and why this one is different from its siblings

At 365 × 50 mm this is a long, low band rather than a funnel or a box:

• ✅ Only 50 mm high, so it reads as a line on the wall rather than an object. Painted out, it is close to invisible by day.
• ✅ 365 mm wide spreads the wash across a broader arc than a narrow fitting — a softer, wider band of light on the wall above.
• 100 mm projection — enough to throw the light clear of the wall, slim enough for a hallway.

Upward only — what that means in practice

• The wall above becomes the light source — a broad soft wash spreading toward the ceiling, with no visible lamp and no glare at eye level.
• It raises a ceiling visually, which is why uplights work in stairwells, hallways and rooms that feel low.
• ⚠ It gives nothing downward. You cannot read by it and it will not light a stair tread. This is atmosphere and architecture.
• ⚠ The wall above must be worth lighting. A grazing uplight shows every patch, bump and roller mark. On good plaster it is excellent; on a poor wall it is unforgiving.

✅ Its sibling the BF-2608B emits both up and down if you want light at floor level as well — ask us.

Placing them

• Around 1.8–2 m from the floor — above eye level, with enough wall above for the wash to develop.
• In a rhythm along a hallway or a stairwell, evenly spaced. A single uplight on a long wall reads as an accident.
• ⚠ Keep at least 300 mm of clear wall above, and check nothing — a cornice, a beam, a picture rail — cuts the wash off.

⚠ The lamp rating across this range does not add up

Three ceramic fittings in this catalogue record three different figures for the same G9 lamp:

Nothing reconciles those, and we are not going to invent a house rule. We have published what is recorded for this fitting.

✅ In practice it does not constrain you: a G9 LED of 3–4 W gives roughly 350–450 lm, which is right for a wall uplight and nowhere near any of these figures. Ask us before fitting anything above about 20 W.

Choosing the lamp — not supplied

• G9 LED, not halogen — cooler running, and this is a closed ceramic body.
• Warm 2700–3000 K — ceramic and plaster are warm surfaces, and a cool lamp makes both look grey.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures — many small G9 LEDs are not.

Where it works

• Hallways, stairwells and entries — in a rhythm, not singly.
• Rooms that feel low, where lifting the ceiling visually helps.
• Wherever the fitting should vanish — paint it wall colour.
• ⚠ Not a reading or task light — nothing goes downward.
• ⚠ Only over a wall finish that will bear grazing light.

One G9 lamp, NOT supplied — we suggest a warm 2700–3000 K G9 LED of 3–4 W, rated for enclosed fixtures. ⚠ 60 W is recorded here; sibling fittings in the same range record different figures for the same lamp type — ask us before exceeding about 20 W. 220–240 V AC, hard-wired.
