The Domus GLIDE 80″ is a 2,030 mm six-blade DC ceiling fan in white or black — 55 W, nine speeds, reversible, 22,318 m³/h of airflow, with an optional LED light kit.
⚠ Three things our own listing got wrong or left out.
An 80-inch sweep is large for a domestic fan, and the reason to choose one is that a big fan moving slowly beats a small fan moving fast:
⚠ A 2 m sweep in a small bedroom is the wrong fan. Ask us about the smaller GLIDE sizes.
Reversing the blades in winter pushes the warm air that has collected at the ceiling down the walls instead of blowing it at you. Run it slowly, in reverse: you should feel no draught at all, and the room evens out. In a room with a high ceiling and heating on, it is a genuine saving rather than a gimmick.
The GLIDE LED light kit is 18 W, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K from the remote, and dimmable from the remote — so the colour is changeable after installation, which most switchable fittings do not allow.
⚠ Decide before installation. Adding the kit later means getting the fan down.
⚠ Where it can go. The datasheet says tropically rated — built for heat and humidity — but records an ingress rating of IPX0, which is no water protection at all. Those two statements need reconciling, so we will not tell you it is an outdoor fan. For a covered alfresco, ask us and we will confirm with Domus first.
ABS polymer motor housing, canopy and blades. 13° blade pitch. 9-speed remote with a timer. Extension rods available for a raked or high ceiling — ask us.
Sweep 2,030 mm (80″), six blades, 13° pitch, ABS polymer. DC motor, 55 W, nine speeds, reversible (winter/summer), airflow 22,318 m³/h, remote with timer. 240 V AC. Tropically rated; ingress recorded as IPX0 — ask us before using it outdoors. Extension rods available. Light kit optional — 18 W LED, 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K and dimming, both from the remote. Warranty: fan 3 years in-home + 3 years parts; receiver and remote 1 year in-home + 1 year parts.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
55 watts. Our record said 18 W, which is the optional light kit — and that kit is not even included. A DC motor is the reason the figure is so low; an AC fan of this size would draw well over 100 W.
No. The GLIDE LED light kit is an optional extra — 18 W, switchable 3000/4000/5000 K from the remote and dimmable from the remote, so unlike most switchable fittings the colour can be changed after installation. Decide before the fan goes up, because adding it later means taking the fan down. Ask us and we will quote them together.
Three years in-home plus three years parts replacement on the fan, and one year in-home plus one year parts on the receiver and remote. Our record said "6 Years", which is the first two added together — a customer reading that would reasonably expect six years of in-home service on the whole product.
Possibly. It needs a clear 2-metre sweep with clearance to the walls, and blades should sit no lower than about 2.1 m from the floor. A 2-metre fan in a small bedroom is the wrong fan — ask us about the smaller GLIDE sizes.
A large fan moving slowly beats a small fan moving fast. You feel an even drift rather than a draught from one spot, and it is quieter for the same airflow because noise comes from blade-tip speed — a long blade reaches a given airflow at lower revolutions.
It reverses the blades so the warm air collected at the ceiling is pushed down the walls rather than blown at you. Run it slowly: you should feel no draught, and the room evens out. In a room with a high ceiling and the heating on it is a genuine saving.
We will not tell you it can until Domus confirms. The datasheet says tropically rated — built for heat and humidity — but records the ingress rating as IPX0, which is no water protection at all. Those two statements need reconciling, so ask us first.
